I’m glad you are visiting.  Please stay awhile.

Why start a blog?  Mothering is truly the best experience, though I would never claim to love every single moment.  Mothering is fraught with frustration, self-doubt, and guilt.  But it is also filled with love, joy, and miraculous small moments.  As my oldest child approaches the teenage years, I am realizing how fast childhood speeds by.  This is the record of our time spent together.

With the birth of my fourth child, I felt overwhelmed by my mothering duties and incompetent to fulfill them.  I enjoyed reading mothering blogs in the spirit of commiseration, to help me find the humor in explosive diarrhea and potty training terror.

A vegetarian for the past 19 years, I am learning to cook meat for my omnivorous family.  I am overly sensitive, dramatic, and impatient.  I am shy, reliable, and moody.  I love reading, creating, and cycling.  I love coke slurpees, jicama, and cheese.  I hate talking about myself.

Please allow me to introduce my family.

My husband, aka Mr.Mayhem, is a Ducati-loving daredevil.  Riding one of his motorcycles, #559 is at his finest… or maybe his happiest.

Our oldest child, known online as Wolfgang, is a true animal lover.  Smart, witty, and sarcastic,  Wolfgang thrives on exotic foods, downhill skiing, music (trumpet and piano are his specialties), and white water rafting.  He loves to play golf.

The youngest boy, Vincent, is an old soul.  He is a sensitive problem solver, dismantling toys to discover the inner workings.  Vincent is sarcastic, a speed reader, and enrolled in the gifted program at school.  Vincent has been hard of hearing since birth.  He also enjoys playing golf.

The oldest daughter, Eloise is our resident party planner.  She keeps life exciting and LOUD.  Eloise has her own way of doing things and will not be persuaded differently.  She is the definition of a strong female, yet she is also kind-hearted, tender, and compassionate.  Eloise is just plain FUN.

The baby of the family is Millie.  She is the Mayhem family mascot.  She is adored by every family member, and she knows it.   Millie will not be left behind.  Anything her siblings can do, she can do also.  Millie is so sweet and loving, you can often hear her proclaim, “I will love you forever!”
