Tips for Hosting an Awesome Party, by Eloise

A guide for hosting the perfect party, courtesy of Eloise (7 years old).  Below you will find her thoughts on pre-party preparations, decorating, food, and activities.

♥  Clean up the house first.  Make upstairs off-limits by putting a banner to block the stairs so you don’t have to clean your bedroom.  Block off the basement so you don’t have to clean that either.

♥  Wear nice clothes and lots of jewelry.

♥  There can never be too many balloons.  Giant balloons that say “Happy Birthday” or “Party!” are the best.  10 balloons for each person is good.  Hang a couple of balloons on each guest’s chair.  Hang more balloons from the walls and the ceiling.

♥ Decorate a special chair for the guest of honor.  Hang the most balloons from that chair.

♥  Make a crown for the guest of honor.  Use glitter.

♥  Buy fancy tablecloths!  Decorate the table with candles, sequins, and a sparkly centerpiece.

♥  Use a lot of streamers.  Nice colors are blue, yellow, black, green, and pink.

♥  So many guests of will make you feel like you’re in a nice place.

♥  Use fancy dishes.

♥  Put fancy umbrellas in drinks and frilly colored toothpicks in sandwiches.  Because toothpicks always make sandwiches taste better!

♥  Have soda to drink, especially lemonade, sprite, root beer.

♥  Make a huge cake.  Buy a tiny balloon for the top of the cake.  Decorate the cake with toys, lego people or little princesses are especially good.

♥  Or buy an ice cream cake that is half mint and half bubble gum.

♥  Have a pinata, full of candy and little toys.

♥  Have games arranged on a table when guests arrive.  Print out sheets of tic tac toe.

♥  Nice music and some dancing.  Maybe put on a show for the guests.

♥  Water balloons!

♥  Use fancy number candles on the cake, not stick candles.

♥  Just have fun!

I would love to attend a party she hosted. We might have to talk about that ice cream cake, though.

Miss Welcome, I couldn’t agree more about the ice cream cake… could she choose a more disgusting combo?? Yikes.

sounds like my type of party. Balloons are very good, and I love her colors of streamers:O)

Yes, black is an extremely festive color.

OH goodness what a party that would be. I can see it now.

I love the block the basement and upstairs suggestions. My room and my office become the dumping grounds for everything out of place on the main level any time someone is coming over.
