My mother recently retired after 45 years of accounting excitement, so our family hosted a small dinner for her.
Everyone pitched in: Wolfgang made the cake and set the table. Vincent made the potatoes, following the recipe with precision. As a result, his version tasted much better than when I make them using the throw-all-the-ingredients-in-a-pan-and-hope-it’s-edible cooking method. Eloise, our resident party planner, went crazy with the decorating, even constructing a glittery crown for her grandmother.
Bonus photo: I just love her death grip on her fork. Someone enroll this girl in a manners class ASAP.
Notice the bling? In Eloise’s world, jewelry is an absolute must for a party. Or any other occasion.

A girl who knows how to accessorize will go far in this world. What I’m trying to figure out is if that’s a good thing.

Lovely photos and jewels are an absolute must for any party I totally agree – now where I wonder have all mine disappeared to? Ah yes, I think the three year old in my midst has run off with what’s left of my collection yet again
those pictures are so beautiful, they look like they just came out of martha stewart living.
wanted to thank you for steering my over to the blogs yesterday, I love them all, esp. parenting by dummies!!! love her. thank you.
My 5-year-old, Hannah, would agree with Eloise on the bling front. She even covers her little brother with jewels, so convinced is she that everybody must glitter with light of a thousand suns. I actually think it’s kind of cool to see her fledgling style sense in action.
